Hobgoblin records has some of the finest bands and talent on their list of recording artists:
The Long Notes
With a distinctive folk, roots and celtic music sound, The Long Notes’ ensemble synergy magically surpasses the sum of its parts, with captivating arrangements of Irish, Scottish, French-Canadian, Galician, Quebecois and old-time tunes. In addition, The Long Notes have honed their writing skills producing some stunning original compositions for their new album.
Chris Ricketts
Chris Ricketts and Mark Willshire focus on bringing folk and traditional music into the modern world. Both being born and bred in Portsmouth, their music has strong links with the city’s naval history and they sing versions of many sea shanties (some well known, some less so) in their own unique style, presenting the traditional songs in a fresh new way.
Chris, a former semi finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, teamed up with Mark Willshire to form a new genre of folk music to bring it “kicking and screaming into the 21st century”.
Dogan Mehmet
Dogan Mehmet is a young bilingual energetic multi-instrumentalist and singer. He delivers traditional songs from Engand and his native land Cyprus alongside his original material with his enchanting and versatile voice. "BBC Radio2 Young Folk Awards Finalist 2008"
Boldwood Boldwood was formed in 2004 by accordionist Becky Price, who needed an ensemble to perform the fiddle repertoire she had been researching in little-known 18th-century English publications and hand-written manuscripts in London libraries. The unusual line-up of accordion and two string-players is a surprisingly appropriate vehicle for the material, which comes from a golden age of English music when the worlds of folk and classical music happily co-existed for arguably the last time.
